Alamo City Food Landmark: BURGER BOY

In Texas, the majority of people say Whataburger is king of burgers in Texas.  That fact I do not debate.  I do debate if Whataburger is the king in San Antonio.  There are many great burger joints in the Alamo City.  Chris Madrid's has been a staple for years.  Chunky's was featured on Travel Channel's MAN VS. FOOD.  Chester's Burgers is a word of mouth favorite.  For my money, there is only one clear choice for the best burgers in San Antonio.  Burger Boy is an ALAMO CITY FOOD LANDMARK.

What makes Burger Boy so great?  Easy, their burgers taste amazing.  They have only five burgers on their menu, and they are all delicious.  Add bacon and cheese, and it only gets better.  Since 1985, Burger Boy has been serving up burger bliss to the patrons of its St. Marys St. location.  It has a simple menu full of tasty items.  One of its trademark items is the Orange Freeze.  This slush drink goes perfect with whatever you order.  When you do order, You have 3 burger options:

Bates Special: Single patty burger with fries and regular drink    $5.99

Working Man Special: Double Burger Boy with fries and large drink     $7.99

Sup'r Man Special (non-menu item): Triple Burger Boy with fries and large drink     $9.99

They also have chicken and fish burgers that are very good.  Their hot dogs are delicious.  They also have award winning shakes.  My favorite is the Orange shake with sprinkles.  Everything coming out of this place is great.  Though the building is very small, droves of Burger Boy faithful come to get their hands on these legendary burgers.  I myself go once or twice a week.  Soon I will not being going so far to get my usual Working Man Special thanks to a second location opening up near my house off Potranco Rd. and Hunt Lane.

Burger Boy satisfies appetites and brings smiles.  I urge anyone who appreciates a great hamburger to make their way to Burger Boys.  It's old school burgers done right by great people. Give it a try.  You will love it.
